This will be a free event jam-packed with Latin musical giants for a night of salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton and much more. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and destruction that has occurred in these areas, and hope that our event will offer visitors an opportunity to explore and celebrate the art and culture of Caribbean people during this difficult time. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the recent devastation faced by Caribbean nations, Mexico, and the southern United States in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Katia, and Irma. Workshops are presented by local World LanguageĬonsultant and ESL Teacher, Nirva Vernet. In this interactive workshop, guests are invited to use illustrate their own stories and create butterfly masks, inspired by Caribbean culture. Participate in interactive French workshops where you will learn simple French words and Francophone stories, as portrayed through Caribbean poetry, stories, and fables. Participate in interactive games such as Simon Says (Simon Dice) and Twister while learning conversational Spanish with Spanish Academy & Cultural Institute, and Lisa Zajur, Director & Coordinator of the Passport to Education Programs with the Virginia Hispanic Foundation.įrench language workshop with Caribbean Influences Participate in Latin Dance workshops followed by demonstrations with the Richmond – based Latin Vintage dance company! Workshops will run from 12:30 – 1:00pm and 1:30-2:00pm with dance demonstrations before and after!
